Bose amp replacement volume control M45
Bose amp replacement volume control M45
I know this is a G35 forum but I need some information that someone here is more than likely the most knowledgeable to answer.
I have a 2003 Infiniti M45 Y34 and I would like to replace the Bose amp with an Infinity Kappa Five that supports differential-balanced inputs. I read the thread about upgrading and keeping the stock HU...
https://g35driver.com/forums/audio-v...-stock-hu.html
I want to know if I connect the preamp wiring under the back deck to the new amp and run new speakers if I can still use the factory volume control?
Also if I want to add an EQ between pre bose amp wiring and the aftermarket amp will that mess up the differential-balanced input phase thingy? I don't really know enough about that to make an educated guess.
My goal is to use an aftermarket 5 channel amp and aftermarket Infinity Kappa speakers. And a small subwoofer in the trunk side panel with the stock head unit, but I'd like to accomplish this without using a signal processor if it is unnecessary.
The Bose system in my car sounds terrible.
Any help would be much appreciated!!

From what I've seen, headunits for the bose systems in Infinitis output a flat signal, so you don't really need an EQ or signal processor with it, since the Kappa Five accepts balanced audio inputs.
From somebody's good testing on the G37 amp and factory HU (not mine - search in the V36/V37 forums), the bass and treble settings work to decrease the EQ settings, but raising them was done by the amp. So you can go could go up to a flat signal.
However, bose is not known for any consistency, so unless you get a good spectrum analyzer and check for yourself, you can't be sure.
I'd try it without an aftermarket equalizer first, if you need it, just install it later.
