Not sure in car electronics. But it usually means its pair'd with the same solid color.

 

It means they're equipped to release magic smoke in the event of failure, followed by magic fire in the case of severe failure.

But no, it's nothing special.

 

The gray dots add another layer of visual identification to wires. However, they are not documented in the service manual. The service manual only uses the primary color of the wire and the trace color.

What exactly are you trying to do?
