anybody know anything about Ca-Fi android DD?

i was browsing around looking for best android compatible stereos, and i came across this guy. i really just want to find a freaking radio that will talk to my phone and allow control over it via radio screen, much like sony mirror linc but im not going with a nokia. i've done no reading on it yet but i'm excited enough to throw a new thread about it. if anybody knows anything about it please chime in. looks awsome.

Have you looked into the Pioneer AppRadio?

Depending on what android phone you have, it'll do just about anything you'd want.

Full feature list can be found on Pioneer's site: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...28SPH-DA100%29

don't really like not having the option to stick a SD/SDHC in that and just play music/movies off that, but otherwise I think it really hits the spot of what you're in search of

I thought having your phone connected was the way to get music/movies on it that you wanted to watch...

Edit: Not sure if the appradio supports reading music/movies straight off a USB device.

Also thought I'd add, the android kit for the appradio (part #CD-AH200C) is over $80.

I guess most HU manufacturers really base their designs off iOS devices. It's a shame. I've had all kinds of phones (SE P910i, Nokia N95, Nokia N8, HTC One-S) and NONE of these devices work fluidly with any head units except for bluetooth.

I'd really like to see a shift in this in future systems, especially since Android does have a far larger market share of devices in usage, and the fact that I just plainly refuse to buy an iPhone.

The appradio does doe a surprising amount with android, but not as much as really wanted.

The amount of android units is finally at a point where it's financially viable to build for them the way iOS devices are, so once the manufacturers turn out a real "new" generation of units, rather than the incremental upgrades we've seen for the last 3-4 years, android should finally get some love.

yea, i'm really thinking i might be better off looking for a lower end unit for the time being and upgrading once there's better options. i'm not really finding what i want in these.

question, will any units that stream via BT pull up a play list and allow me to pick and play thru the radio without using my phone for any controls? looking for DD touch screens.

No, all I've seen in current-gen units is Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP) version 1.0, which only allows pause, play, skip forward and skip backward. Once units (both music devices and headunits) with AVRCP 1.4 comes out, you'll have browsing by artist, album and such, a "Now Playing" list and basic search capabilities.

thank you, so AVRCP 1.4 is my new search term. its such a pain going and reading details of every unit to do a search for these options.

You're going to be in for a long wait. Maybe the next generation, or the one that follows the release of the new iPhone, seeing as how iOS 5 supports AVRCP 1.4 and the new iPhone ditches the 30-pin connector, so manufacturers have some decent motivation to make some all-new units.

even more of a reason to go cheap and upgrade down the road i suppose. leaves me more room to focus on my speakers and amps too for now.
