mounting my iPod this week, please comment on my mount ideas....(long)

I have all the details squared away concerning hardwiring my iPod mini, except for a place to mount the unit itself. I will be using the PAC AAI-NIS unit to interface the SAT button. I will use the Belkin auto charger (plugged in the armrest console) that has the amplified line out to provide the power and run the audio signal to the PAC unit. As I said, i only have yet to decide where exactly I'm going to mount the iPod mini itself.

My 2 top priorities in deciding on how to mount the iPod are...
1. the display must be easy to read as I drive
2. the mount must be very secure, in order to use the scroll wheel and because I will constantly be inserting and removing the unit from its mount

I've seen the excellent install on g35ipod.com, but i'm personally not crazy about the iPod sticking up out of the nav cubby. I'm also not crazy about mounting the unit in the cupholder.

I'm currently leaning towards purchasing a cell phone mount that secures to the side of the console. I fabricated a similar arrangement in my Audi that is very secure. The location is ideal for reading the display from the drivers seat. I would just permanently mount an iPod mini clip to the cell mount and hardwire the Belkin power/audio wire under the console to behind the mount. I think hiding all the wires is easily accomplished, ....it's deciding on where exactly to mount the unit that is proving difficult.

I have seen two cell phone mounts that would work thus far. One from Panavise that mounts a bit high on the console ....and another from ProClip that is lower on the console. I would be happy with either location, going with the mount that is the most secure. Can anyone with either product comment on the stability? This is really my main inquiry. The ProClip worries me in that respect as it just clips on without screws.

Thanks for any input, even other mounting ideas. Sorry about the long winded post.

I just put in the pro clip that goes on the driver's side left of the ashtray. It works extremely well, and I am very happy I went with it. It comes with self adhesive, but it fits so tight that you don't even need it. It really is a secure fit. I think you'll be happy with it.

I'm in the same boat as you guys, as soon as spring comes I was going to mount my iPod in my G too. If you could post pics that would be great.

My idea was that since I dont have the navi package, using that area for the install. Kinda making a built in docking station there so it stays charged.

i have the pro-clip on the righ side. it's great because it swivels. no scratches and a very secure fit (even w/o the adhesive).

i had all of the same concerns and did not want to leave my mini in my car permanently. this was the best solution that i could think of and has been great for the time that i have had it.

another option is http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPL....0.1.1.0.1.0.3
