Runnning wires down the middle of the car

I searched the forum numerous times and could not find a DIY on middle console removal (the console between the 2 front seats). I need to run RCA cables from the trunk to the HU and want to run the RCA's down the middle of the car, away from the factory wire loom located on the drivers side and the 4 gauge power wire I installed on the passenger side. I found the DIY for getting the center console open to get to the back of the HU, but could not find anything on how to remove the middle console......anyone have pictures or a DIY handy on running wires to the trunk down the middle of a 5AT coupe?

Thanks in advance!

Why do you need to remove the center console? Just get some long RCA cables and go around the side. Lift up the weather stripping by the door sill and you will see plenty of space to feed your cables through. Then just run the cables under the rear seats and into the trunk.

I tried using the factory HU signal wires located in the drivers side wire loom.......bad idea for me, cause the infinity engineers used some kind of filter in the bose amp to suppress the noise (brake lights, turn signals....steady humming, not alternator whine) induced by the other power wires located in this loom. Since I deep-sixed the bose amp, no more filter. I tried numerous filters, ground loop, LOC with noise eliminators....no good. I installed 4 ga power wire on the pasemger side for my amps, so the only place left is the middle of the car.........the farther away I can keep the RCA signal wires from the power wires the cleaner the sound.

I'm running my amp power wire, RCA's, and Sub wire all down the passenger side bundled together. I have ZERO noise problems, without using any filters or loops. Make sure your sound cables are properly shielded.

cool........thanks for the input.......this has been a bummer for about a month trying to get rid of this noise.......I have systematically eliminated the speaker wires, amps, xover, power and ground wires, so the only place left where the noise is coming into my system is either the factory HU or the factory signal wires. So I am now going to replace the factory signal wires with RCA cables run from the trunk to the HU......and want to make sure no noise will get on these RCA cables....I have read articles and talked to a few installers that recommend running the RCAs down the middle of the car away from the other wires.....so im taking their advice and doing so.......I did this in my last car........I didnt think it would be a big deal to get under the middle console and snake the wires under the carpet........I figured it would be about the same work as running the cables down the sides......maybe not...I know what it takes to run the wires on the sides, but not in the middle........Thanks again for the advice but i'm still looking for any pictures or DIY to run those RCAs down the middle

I don't have any pictures...but I'll try my best to give you detailed procedures. I actually just did this 5 days ago so it's still fresh in my memory.

Removal of front console (where shift **** is):
Follow the DIY for removal of AT shift **** found in this forum. Once the shift **** is removed, all you do is pop up the front console part. Make sure have your armrest up and put your car in Neutral before doing so. It's easiest to snap it up from the rear portion (where the cup holder is), just pull up with your fingers. Once you get this up, you'll see 2 harnesses up front and 2 harness in the rear that needs to be disconnected. The rears are for the heated seats and the fronts is for the hazard light and "P R N D" plate light. Just pull up and towards the rear once everything is disconnected. Be careful not to scratch your radio with it during removal.

Removal of rear portion of front console (armrest section):
First, remove the power/ground wire that leads to the 12V socket inside the armrest. Just stick your hand inside there and pull on the harness towards the front of the car.
Then there are 4 screws that hold this rear portion in. Unscrew the 2 up front that attaches right below the ashtray/radio using a Phillips. It is where you should see a plastic piece that has a dip in the middle. The screws are just at opposite ends.
Next, put both seats as forward as they can go and you'll see 2 plastic tabs on the side of the console. Pop these tabs off with a flathead and you'll see a screw. Unscrew the screws on both sides with a phillips. Now you just lift up and out. That's all.

I have my NavBox installed right underneath the rearseat cupholder. So I had to run RCA cables from the rear seat to the PAC which is up front by the HU. I also had the video signal cable from the NavBox running through the center console. And my power wire from the battery goes down the passenger side just like yours. The rear carpet with the Infiniti logo on it hides the cables very well. I was afraid it'd be seen but after putting everything back together (rear seats, console, carpet...) there was no sign of cabling.

You mean this? http://www.g-owners.com/article_read.asp?id=13

I know it's a 6MT in the DIY and you have a 5AT, but I'm sure instructions would be similar for both.

What type RCA's are you using.

Make sure you use twisted pair RCA's. They are pretty common these days, but if you are just using general shielded RCA's, you will have very little luck getting rid of the noise. My guess is that you are not using twisted pair RCA's. The video cable can just be Shielded, but the audio RCA cables need to be twisted pair. I would bet that if you use these type of audio cables you could run them right next to a power cable and get zero noise. Good Luck!

Yes, that's what I meant... twisted pair. I forgot the term, so I just said shielded. But if you are using twisted pair and still getting noise, then you have a ground problem most likely. Can you describe the noise. Is it a whine, that progressively gets louder as you give the car more gas?

Thanks for all the input! You guys are very helpful and I should be able to get this thing licked........the noise is nice and steady, its not the alternator....when i turn the key on.....steady noise, turn to acc.....same steady noise but increases in loudness, but not frequency.......start the engine and the same noise is still there.......I think its the fuel pump I am hearing and when I switch to acc the amps turn on and of course the noise gets louder.....i also hear the turn signals "tick tick" and brake lights "tick" when they are activated......I will check my RCAs and make sure they are twisted pair before installing.........

I can turn the gain down on my xover and reduce the noise to a level that is low enough not to notice much..........but the sound stage is not there.....I need to increase the gains back to almost full power to get the stereo a rockin! so i'll try the twisted pair RCA next weekend and will post my progress......Thanks again guys, you have been a big help!

For my previous car setup I actually used RG6 coax with coax->RCA convertors at each end
It ended up being cheaper than RCA and I ran my power and sound on the same side of the car and got absolutely no noise
