Replacement of XM Sat receiver [pics]
Replacement of XM Sat receiver [pics]
I finally got around to replacing my XM receiver - which has been experiencing the "LOADING" problem for a year! Grubbs & Clarion shipped the new unit to me along with a prepaid label for returning the defective one.
The "new" receiver is actually a refurbished one that has been updated with new firmware (v. 2.64).
The hardest part about making the switch was detaching the old receiver from the double-stick foam used to originally install it. That foam was holding tight!
Pics follow below.

Here is the refurbished receiver. Note that marking, along with a new label indicating the firmware version. There are also a couple of green colored dots on the existing labels.

Here is the location of the removed receiver in the sedan (just behind the passenger-side rear seat). Note the residual foam sticky. I had to really pry hard to get that stuff to come away from the unit. Then you have to scrape and clean it off. This stuff is so strong that you only need a few square inches to work fine. Remember, there are also three screws holding the unit down.
And if you're interested - I have the ultrasmall Terk XMicro antenna installed underneath the parcel shelf. Here it is shown looking upwards from inside the trunk, towards the passenger side. (Note the trunk dome light.) The antenna's magnetic mounts hold it securely in this position, and I only get very occasional dropouts. Completely invisible ......
