My potential setup w/ DW screen

Hey Guys,

I've decided next mod I'm going to go with the Digital Wheelz screen setup (waiting for them to release the black housing) along with the single din top dash converter and the Pioneer AVIC80DVD Unit (DVD and Navigation ability).

What do you guys think? What else am I looking at as far as getting a functional NAV and DVD player in my car? I'm thinking project should cost around $800-900 (w/o installation)...

Any input appreciated, thanks!

how deep is the Pioneer unit??? Just be aware that only DIN units SHALLOWER than 6.5" can fit using DW's DIN adapter in the upper glovebox. My Pyle DVD player was 6.1" and fit nicely. My original Blaupunkt DVD player was 7" deep would not fit AT ALL!. If the DIN unit is too deep, it will hit the metal bracket that holds the passenger side airbag. Keep this in mind....

Looks sweet, I plan on ordering that same one sometime soon. I still need to figure out which unit I'm going with that will fit the DW single din converter that has nav and dvd capabilities.

The first black framed screen is scheduled to be installed this weekend, if all goes well, they will probably be available the following week.

-from the website

The install has already been done (see top pics) and release is going to be very soon! Right Chuck?

Can You Please Rig A Housing For The Generic Screens(namely The Dynamix 7" Touch Screen)? I Have One Already That I Would Like To Use Rather Than Allow To Age On My Shelf...pleeeeeeez.

No, thats just the original casing from the Xenarc, not the housing. The casing is taken off to put the screen in the housing.

I did a lot of research into this and from all my conclusions I never did find a unit that could do both nav and dvd and would fit in that single din - that spot is pretty small. You'd probably want to go the route of having the dvd player in the single din and the nav unit in the trunk since the screen has 2 a/v inputs in it and can handle both.

P.S. - I do have an Innovatek DVD unit that was used probably 2 times that would fit in the single din up for sale for pretty cheap.

The black screens are now available on the store site:
http://www.digitalwheelz.com/ecommer...alog/index.php

There is a new frame color option for the 700V and 700TSV models. There will be a $10 charge for the black version because they are much more difficult to get cut correctly.

The first production of black screens will ship on the 7th.

There will never be a DigitalWheelz G35 housing made for anything other then a xenarc. The housing is custom made specifically for a xenarc screen and the few other screens I looked at, even though they look similar on the outside, they have significantly different internal wiring and structures that won't allow the circuit board to be separated from the screen by the 6" needed to allow it to fully extend and retract.

A significant amount of time has been put into perfecting the design around a xenarc screen and although there may be ways to make the housing work with other screens, it won't be easy if even possible.

If you already have an existing non-xenarc screen that you want to use with a DigitalWheelz housing, the best and only advice I can give you is to sell it.
