You can call me a lurker, but I've gotten some great info on this site to fix the few problems we've had with our '04 G35x sedan. So, thanks everyone.

I'm feeling like the alarm is telling me something. The horn beeps as it should when I lock the doors, but about 30 seconds after I engage the alarm with the FOB, the horn will again honk once. What does this mean? It began about the same time we started having a problem of not being able to open our unlocked doors without triggering the alarm to sound.

If we drive the car and don't lock it after we get out (usually at home), the alarm will sound when we open the car door to drive the car again. We can prevent this by hitting the unlock button on the FOB every time we open the door. But, the alarm shouldn't be triggered when the car is unlocked.

Also, every once in a while when we lock the doors with the FOB the car will quickly honk 4 times in a row. Sometimes even 8 sequential quick honks.

It turns out, my alarm is not stock. I got into the dash and found an aftermarket system. Disconnected it. Problem solved.
