Ac and dash issues please shed some light

Alright so my ac is completely dead in my 03 coupe the buttons dont work or display that they should be on only lights are the ones that are on when my headlights are on. The part of the console where all the digital readouts are (ac compass and out side temp) is blank. Anyone experienced this? My radio works totally fine by the way.. Haha really gives me hope its something simple and not the so common hvac/ circuit board issue

Could just be a loose or bad connection on the ribbon cable if you're lucky, check this post for details on inspecting the ribbon cable: https://g35driver.com/forums/audio-v...g-channel.html

If not, replacing the headunit (which also requires the JDM or Metra a/c controls) with something aftermarket will fix the problem.

Any of the harnesses you see on the back when removing the radio as you remove and replace it to inspect the ribbon cable as shown in the previously linked thread.

Similar issue

Op - hope you don't mind this post. Our problems may have a similar source/cure.

In my 03 AT sedan the screen with the compass and temp display is dead, the havoc buttons and system are dead. Is a metra dd and the pioneer screen still works fine.

In addition, the wipers work and spray, but if you pull to spray no auto wipers. Finally, I need to hit the shift lock to shift out of park (3rd brake lit still works).

The compass screen went first. The shift lock went second. I noticed the hvac when the shift lock went, but they could have gone earlier. The wipers I noticed while driving home, cannot be sure when that started.

This all happened today over the course of running errands - maybe 4 or 5 starts. My car sat for about a week in the snow then we have has around freezing weather.

Ideas?

Shift lock and wiper issue the same as well? If so then likely not a circuit board issue because I'd have a new board in my metra kit. To bad because it would be a good reason to order a Jdm one.

Maybe a common fuse or wire? I guess I have to brave to cold and try to check ribbon wires as W suggested.

Shift lock yes im not sure about the wipers though. Im wondering if there is a common fault that could happen due to the weather. Mine happened at the same time

Make sure you have checked each fuse in each of the three fuse boxes - one by the driver's left foot and two inside the battery compartment, one of which is behind the battery.

If all of the fuses are ok, it is very possible that you damaged the Body Control Module (BCM) which controls many things including lights (you said you blew a fuse for the parking and clearance lights). You may not have any choice but to go to the dealer for a diagnosis and repair, which is not inexpensive. The BCM had to be replaced in my sedan after a collision and it was about $700. The BCM has to be programmed by the dealer.

Can you visually inspect fuses? What's the best way to inspect the fuses?

You can determine a fuse is bad visually by looking for a gap inside the fuse. You cannot, however, 100% determine that it's good without a multimeter.

http://www.google.com/search?um=1&hl=en&safe=off&q=blown+car+fuse&revid=1456376046&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.r_qf.&bvm=bv.41248874,d.eWU&biw=1238&bih=663&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=li shows you what bad ones looks like.

nothing visually wrong.

Headed to dealer on Monday. I need to take a trip next week and I can deal with no heat, but no defrosting or de-fogging the windshields isn't an option.

I'll post when they find a solution.
