12in subs in an 05 Coupe

Hi Guys! I just recently purchased my first G coupe a couple days ago. I wanted to go ahead and install my subs today only to realize my trunk is small as **** lol. I have 2 12in subs. I'm having a hard time finding a box that'll fit inside the trunk. I'm not to concerned about trunk space except for mounting an amp somewhere. Putting much I'm just wondering your suggestions or which direction I should go in as to how I could fit these in there. Thanks

Custom box. You can remove the spare too if you want.

Well, there's really no need at all for two 12's in this car. You'd have to go sealed to have two boxes that fit in the trunk and meet the volume requirements of the subs, and you'd get better sound out of a single 12 in a ported box. It'll still take a lot of space, but it will require less power in addition to giving you better sound quality for most music that anyone wanting two 12s listens to.

Regardless, it will require a custom box to be done right.

Or you could do what I expect most people just wanting a ton of sub will do, and buy some generic large boxes with a 12" cutout and wedge them into the trunk, put a couple of amps rated at 2000 peak watts on the side of each box, run a thin 4-gauge wire to the battery and call it a day, telling everyone you show it to that "It's just temporary."

If you want inspiration for things done RIGHT, go through this thread: https://g35driver.com/forums/audio-v...o-systems.html

ok cool so a custom box that'll fit one sounds fine. There MTX's, I dont remember the exact model but they were $2500 alonnggggg time ago, over 8 years but they still pound.

You could always mold a 12" box into each of the rear corners (closest to you as you open the trunk on either side) if you're good with fiberglass, or know someone who is. You won't be fitting golf clubs in anymore but it's an option. That's the setup I've been working on for about a year now, just been lazy and haven't finished anything. Depending on the airspace they need it's doable, unless they need 2 cubes or something stupid.

I'm a big fan of subs run in stereo vs. mono but I listen to a bunch of old jazz recordings and "live" CDs. It's an old habit from when subs were run off the left channel before mono outputs for a sub were common. Used to miss half of what was happening in the lower frequencies, probably not necessary anymore but old habits die hard and I've got a good old low end setup I hope to never have to change.

I have one of their sealed boxes but it was modified by them to fit a RE Audio SEx 12 so mine is a bit more bulged out, but it knocks hard almost over kill with 1.
