SIRIUS Satellite Acquiring Signal Issue

I have a 2005 Sedan with a factory Bose radio with Sirius. The last 8 to 9 months the Sirius has worked fine. Now it has started to temporarily drop signal every few minutes and show ACQUIRING SIGNAL on the unit. It comes back pretty quick, but it is very annoying.

There are no Infiniti dealers near me so I called Sirius. I performed their 'reset' of turning off the radio before parking the car, then turning it back on after I pull out of the garage the next morning. Didn't help.

Next, I stopped by the local Nissan dealership and they said it might be the antenna that needs to be replaced. Before I go drop who knows how much money with these guys, are there any other basic troubleshooting steps I should go through first? Check for loose antenna wire, etc.?

I can also order the G35 Sedan Sirius Antenna and it would be around the same $$ just take about 3-4 days to get to me, then 2 or so to you

I'm in no big rush. I saw the one you guys have on eBay. Not sure I like the way it looks. Hard to tell what it looks like from the photo of it still wrapped up in the box. If I have to change the antenna, I'd rather keep the same look, or get an upgraded look.

I can only assume I have an OEM antenna. Looks like a black oval with a rubber strip behind it.

Resurrection:

My radio acted fine from just after posting this last year until yesterday. I called the dealers and nobody seemed to have what I was looking for.

Anyway, in case this is helpful to anyone else...

Below is what is installed on my 2005 G35 Sedan. I understand it isn't a factory option, but often installed by dealers.

NISSAN SIRIUS Receiver Model: 999U9 NV004
NISSAN SIRIUS Antenna Model: 999U9 VQ008

Receivers are used around $99. Antenna are on the market new for under $25.

When I bought my car it had a Sirius unit it in. It would never get a signal. I replaced it with an XM receiver and antenna (same company but the hardware was still different). I didn't need the huge Infiniti antenna, this micro antenna works just fine: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sirius-XM-Hi...item20de3a35d5
