Front Speaker Question

Hey guys, I want to replace my front speakers. I have an 05 coupe with Bose. Anything specific besides the speakers I need to get? I know theres alot of things that suck because of the Bose equipment. Is it ok to just replace the speakers or do I have anything else to worry about such as purchasing additional equipment to get them working.

Another thing as well, Im looking to add an amp and sub. Should I have the tech disable the rear speakers when I get those done or keep them? I dont want the system to sound like ****Thanks!

There's no issue replacing only the speakers, but the bose amp is woefully underpowered and has really bad built-in equalization, so you'll need speakers with high sensitivity to come close to the stock volume.

Replacing the amp, on the other hand, does have issues, see this post for more info: https://g35driver.com/forums/audio-v...-stock-hu.html

I advocate disabling the rear speakers when you put good speakers up front.

For the front, one week ago I had the Polk Dxi component set installed with Second Skin sound deadener. I have a JVC KW-AV70BT DD HU power them and they sound very good, but I sure with a amp they will sound better! I will add either the Polk PA 660 or JL Audio JX 360 amp in the next week or so.

For the front you can get Polk DB6501 component set with crossover on Amazon for $120 shipped. I paid $135 for my Polk Dxi 6501 at Best Buy and these seem to be the same quality speaker with the DB be a older series.

What speakers you rockin?

Looking to purchase some front speakers. Looking to get a pair with great highs and mids as ill have a bumpin set of sub woofers. Just wanted to see if there were particular models people recommend, or what you've got and how your liking them. Let me know!

I have some Boston Acoustic speakers. I tried to improve the sound of my OEM Bose system but it was only a slight improvement until I did some other upgrades. I am pretty happy with them but they are power hungry. I saw the same speakers for sale in the marketplace but they are out of your price range.

I'm running the Clarus C61-2 components up front and I'm very happy with them. A little pricey at $500 but they kick some serious butt.

I wish you lived closer so I could hear your system.

Yeah me too. I am super happy with how it all came out, I get a lot of compliments on how clean and tight it sounds.

I was doing a search to improve my sound and saw your thread. Those speakers are out of my price range considering I needed more power to the speakers I already have. I got two amps that Eggy suggested.

the speakers u have now are better than the clarus set. They were just too underrpowered.

Stock headunit for right now (yes i know a new HU is crucial) but where I live id rather keep everything undercover as far as what I have for a system.

The jl amp can power the subs only.

Need another amp for the speakers.

A double din can look pretty stealthy in the dash.

damn, buzzkill, what can i look into as in an amp that will power both the subs and the speakers without having to purchase two amps? I will be hanging on to the stock headunit for now, so i know i will need something that can support it. Ill probably get a double din AFTER getting some sort of aftermarket alarm.. Wrathernaut seems to be on top of the audio game, could you shed some light or anyone else that could help?
