radio stations cut off when door is open

I have an 06 sedan with Bose and I was taking my double din out today to send off for warranty. When I put the factory hu back in I noticed that if I opened the doors that the radio stayed on but the station went to static but was crystal clear when the doors are shut. I googled the problem and searched on here with no luck. Has anyone else have this problem??

I haven't had the problem but I have a few thoughts. The first would be with the door. Because it happens when you open the door my guess is that the antenna wire is being pinched or the plastic sleeve has been cut/worn off and is grounding upon opening your door. Do you find the same thing happening when you open your other doors? If not, then it's probably the antenna line in the door jamb.

The second thought is that upon reinstall of the factory HU something wasn't grounded right or it's grounding and it shouldn't. This isn't likely the cause though because it only happens when you open your door.

The last thought is that the antenna components are getting chroded. Again, I doubt this is the issue because like before it's when you open your door.

Test out the other doors and let me know what you find. If you can't replicate the issue with the other doors then it HAS to be the antenna line in which case I would suggest you find someone parting out their G or go to a junk yard and tear out the antenna line of a wrecked G. Not going to be a fun fix if you have to run the new antenna line but also not a hard fix compared to other issues we face.

It does it when opening any of the doors. It kinda makes me wonder if some how it's caused by the interior lights coming on.

Did you do the install yourself?

If you turn on the interior lights while the doors are shut, does the radio cut out?

Yeah I installed it myself and I tried by turning the inside lights off. I've thought about pulling the fuse for them as long as its not controlling the radio too

I wonder if you didn't pull power from a line connected to the interior lights and the added pull the line sees when your dome lights etc come on may be taking power from the radio. Which wire did you connect your antenna to for power? Remember our radios have powered antennas. Simply switching the power source for the antenna may solve your issue.

So what did turning the lights on with the doors shut do?

It was doing it with the factory radio so the antenna was powering off of it. I got my double din back today put it in and it's still going to static when the door is open. And only on the radio not when a cd or my iPhone is playing.

Turning the lights on with the doors shut doesn't do anything.

Could be an anomaly like when you touch an FM transmitter the signal is stronger and when you don't even though its on your lap it sounds like crap. Maybe, your doors are acting in the same manor??? My best suggestion without looking is to replace the antenna and antenna wire completely. Anyone else agree at this point? If its aftermarket a ground is always plausible but it seems to weird for that
