Homelink Mirror Breaking Off !!

Im not sure if anyone else has had the problem I have been having with my rearview mirror. I have had it break away from my window a few times and even had the post snap off. I have bought a new mirror but it still rattles like crazy with my bass. I am running a RE 12" sub in modded 4080 box powered with 800 watts. I know there are others with alot more bass than I have. Does anyone else have issues with the mirror rattling like crazy? These mirrors are very heavy with all the homelink stuff on there. I like the options it has but it if keepd breaking off, I will have to go with a plain cheap mirror. Any ideas how to secure the mirror better??

Is it like a constant buzzing type rattling noise? Mine does that but I think it's because of how stiff my suspension is. The rattling is so annoying lol. At least it didn't fall off yet I guess.

I should say its more vibration from the bass. The mirror vibrates so much that I cant even use it to look behind me. There is also a creaking to it kinda where the 2 halves of the plastic of front and back of housing connect.

It may sound counter-intuitive, but adding mass by taking it apart and putting wheel weights in there can help. By increasing its mass, it's going to take more power to vibrate it, and since it will be a composite it will be harder for it to resonate as well. It's less work to hold a larger non-moving mass than smaller weight that gets tossed around... just like it's easier to hold a bowling ball than catch a bullet.

So long as the weight isn't too much for the arm that holds up the mirror, it'll help. If you need more grip holding the metal windshield mount to the glass, I hear that Gorilla Glue gives a bit stronger hold.

I'll bet mine has fallen off 6-8 times. In fact in took a big chunk of the windshield with it last time.

Mine did that a few times. It took a layer of glass off so I had glued it back on. It chunked off again so I glued it again. Finally I just got a new window. It must have been cheap glass for a layer of glas to just chunk off. What really sucks is my mirror vibrates until it is facing the seats. I move it up and then more bass and there goes the mirror facing the seats again. It makes it useless.

If you're the only driver, a dab of silicone around the ball joints once it's in place will prevent it from dipping. From there, increase its mass and you should be ok.
