Remote starts, recomendations, stay away froms, thoughts

Hi All, Looking to add a remote start to our 08 G. Looking locally we are considering either the CompuStarPro Dronemobile or the Viper SmartStart. Both are with in a few dollars in price and are the same cost in yearly fee. The wife needs the kind with the phone app to start as her office and where she parks in the ramp is about a ten minute walk. It would do no good to just have a 'fob' start with a 100 foot range. Might as well just get in the car and start it. Anyone have any thoughts as to what to avoid or look for? Have any problems with starting or anything else? I think that the mirror and rear window defroster won't work if it is left on and then remote started as it needs to be turned on every time after the car is shut off. But if the seats, heater or the AC are left on, then they should be working right away with the remote start.

A friend of mine has the Viper brand remote start on his celica. His mom used his car one day and left it in first, the next day when he went to start it the car took off and ran into a wall lol. Sorry this doesn't help lol

What did you decide? I heard the SmartStart has a lag of a few seconds up to a minute. I guess if she's walking 10 minutes it wouldnt matter really. The yearly fee sounds annoying. Id rather MacGyver a Tracfone into my starter and make my own droid app...a little overboard? maybe...but it would be worth it I think.

I looked at getting a DW-Tech ST960 or ST800 someone mentioned on here before. The thread died and apparently so did the auto-innovatio website and anything else associated with them. Im not sure why. I cant figure out the demise of the company or the distributors. Ive found them still selling in Korea where they are made. 800 is $150, the 960 was $250 i believe. They supposedly work from 1000 feet or further...but again...im not sure since most info has disappeared and no one seems to talk about them after the hype a couple years ago.

I've had a viper in my Wrangler and now in my G and 4 years later har yet to have an issue. Most of them are pretty solid it more comes down to who installs it and how good they are. But my vote is for the viper. I could start it from the back of the building I was in to about 30 spaces out in the parking lot in a metal building. Was always impressed.
