Okay great, so a JL JX 360/2 is a good amp? The 12in Kappa does have the switch for 2ohm or 4 ohm, but one thing i was looking at was the Sundown Audio SA-12D2 Sub as recommended before. What are your opinions between the two?

Dunno. Never heard of them. I've been out of the audio crowd for a few years

If the SA12 is anywhere near as good as the SA10, it's a great sub.

Im honestly not looking for something over powering or anything that will rattle my trunk, being a Dj and loving the EDM scene I LOVE powerful bass, but in a car I want something that will just satisfy my ear and not give me a headache lol. Something balanced with a bass I can slightly feel haha

EDIT: I feel dumb haha I could just turn down the bass lmfao... stupid me,, so is a 10' fine?

My JL 10" hits way harder then I thought a 10 ever would. I would recommend this.

JL 10w3v3 is an extremely clean tight sounding sub

Sundown in my opinion is better in the amp area vs most other manufacturers. I ran a 12 Alpine Type R for a long time and was very happy with it. JL is always a solid option as most of their subs are solid. The KAPPA line are known to be clean and solidly built. Seen quite a few systems and they were very accurate. The big difference in subs are how clean and how loud. Yes you can get both but generally price increases quite a bit (JL w6 or w7). I would search the forums and see what different people of used and/or read reviews at crutch field etc.

Wow JL is expensive haha, I'll have to go with Kappa, now is the 10' or 12' a better buy?

Have you got an idea for the box? I have a 12, I figured I can always turn it down if it's too loud. But if I want it to hit harder a 12 will move more air then a 10.

12" typically requires a little more RMS to push it, takes more space, and costs a little more to purchase. Yes JL is "expensive" but so are very many other brands that are well worth the difference in cost.

Anyone who had a bad mix of sub and amp will remind you how they wished they would have done it right.
What ever you choose to do, do it right OP .

^ Yup. The right box/power/sub combo is key. I had a pair of 10" MTX Thunder's in a ported box that sounded outstanding with 100w RMS apiece in my old car.

I wonder if there's a good 500w on equivalent 10" and 12" subwoofer comparison out there.

A lot of 10/12s are rated the same power nowadays... I'd highly suggest a JL 10w3v3. Awesome sub for $200

Sounds great, guess i'll have to wait a little while longer to get the right equip. haha but you guys do make valid points better to spend more and be happy then less and regretful...

How about the Precision Power PPI S850.1D sub amp with say a Kappa 10' or the 10' JL?

I like PPI amps and have always heard good things. I think you will be happy with either sub. Both good quality, both have the capability of solid outputting.
