Recommended 2ohm Amp to replace Bose

I have an 03 with the Bose system and I have replaced the HU with a Pioneer AVH4500BT DVD unit and now I figure I should replace that Bose amp. Does anyone have a recommendation for a replacement unit utilizing the Bose 2 ohm speakers? Should I be looking at a 4 channel or a 5 channel? Does the 6x9 in the rear deck get controlled but a different channel or is it tied into the rear channels? I don't have a big budget but have always been a big fan of JL Audio amps. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Personally, I would go with a 4 channel and a separate mono block amp to drive the sub. Yes, the original bose amp powers all the speakers. Yes, they are split into front and back channels.

Don't quote me on this, but I think because you replaced you HU, you shouldn't have to replace your amp with a 2 ohm amp.. I think you are good to replace it with a 4 ohm amp. Wrathernaut will chime in. Search around in the AVE forum.

The bose speakers are 4 ohm speakers wired, in parallel with 4 ohm tweeters, which have an inline bass-blocker, which I do not know if it affects their overall load, but between the tweeter and speaker, you're looking at a little over 2 ohms for the load.

The bose amplifier splits four channels into 6 (coupe) or 5 (sedan) channels. I haven't ever bothered to test, but I'm pretty sure the rear 6x9's/8" is done just from the rear channels.

I'd suggest ditching the bose equipment entirely, if you're sticking with 6x9's, go with a 4-channel in the 600w range with upgraded equipment, or if you're just going to run the bose front speakers and rear 6x9's, 300w will probably be more than enough.

JL's always good and reliable, but usually not worth the premium price.
