'05 w/ Nav version 6.3 ..upgrade to 6.11 ?
Newest Navteq version is 6.11, about $199 or so, and wondering if this is worth the upgrade?
Is the software upgraded from the antiquated menus? or just maps?
I like the stock look, somewhat retro style and resist doing mods to add Garmin....
thanks

Not worth $50, let alone $199 when a new, standalone garmin with a modern interface, lifetime map and traffic upgrades and built-in bluetooth can be had for $150. ($10 Less without bluetooth)

Just a MAP update. Same clunky interface.
For the $199 they charge for a new update CD, i could buy a new Garmin every year. So that's what I did. If i go anywhere that i REALLY need a good GPS for, i take my stick-on windshield GPS with Traffic, that is voice operated. This is coming from someone who specifically sought out a G35 with factory GPS back when they were still new cars on dealer lots. I think I paid a $3K premium over a non-GPS car...for a system that I hate to use now.
My factory GPS is pretty much eye candy these days. It takes forever to enter an address, and you can't do it while driving. Also, the time to arrive never updates properly, or accounts for traffic delays. My iphone is easier to use when i don't have my windshield GPS.
I think i'm running 7.1 in my '06X. I keep seeing newer version CD's on ebay for cheap. Might snag one just to at least get a somewhat updated setup, but i'm not paying retail for a newest copy. How many CD's are required for the update? Just the MAP CD or is there a software CD as well to run first? Who has actually updated an 06+ system?

Best nav mod you can do on a G35 is PAC aux interface (also cheaper than $200 map update). Then you can stream pandora, naviagtion, videos, ect through your stock system with your phone.
