I recently installed the NOS OEM Nissan/Infiniti Tuner (999U-NV003) in my ‘prewired’ 2005 Infinity G35 (Bose, no Navigation). The XM tuner works perfectly with the radio.

As far as things I was confused about, I can confirm that the pre-wire harness was behind the seat back trunk finisher, cable tied along the cross member (not under the rear shelf). Also, there is no SAT button on this radio, the “RADIO” button performing the AM/FM1/FM2/XM1/XM2 toggle after the XM receiver is installed.

I also subsequently installed the USA*SPEC PA15-INFI iPod interface, which also works perfectly.

I wanted to acknowledge the info I obtained from this site (and some other G, Infiniti or Nissan sites) which helped me track down the correct parts and installation details. Thanks!

I put in the same ipod interface into the empty sat harness and had been wondering if I could still put in a sat receiver also. Looks like I can. What did you do for an antenna?

First determine if you are going XM or Sirius.

Use a modern satellite antenna. Terk is good. This one is for XM:


Then if you are going NOS for the tuner (I also got the NV003), use this splitter:

If you are not afraid to file down the FAKRA pink shield around the single plug, you can plug the antenna straight in. If you don't want to alter the splitter, get one of these:

I did mine a little differently: Since 2005 I had used the Tao XM2go in a car kit cradle, using the original (from that early time) small magnetic antenna on the rear roof line. That worked very well. (this is an old version of the TERK that D2B35AGN mentions)

I also purchased the OEM XM Antenna kit, which has the larger, ‘ice cream cone’ shaped antenna. I decided to use the splitter that comes with that kit and retained the original car kit magnetic antenna, since I’d done a pretty good job of routing the antenna wire into the trunk.

The antenna setup therefore is: Original XM2go car kit antenna + Antenna Adapter** + OEM antenna splitter into the SAT and TERR inputs of the tuner, 000U9-NV003. This seems to work fine; the fidelity on Classic Vinyl or The Bridge sounds good, I have no dropouts, except for bridges and dense tree cover; I even get good reception parking in my garage.

You might want to consider temporarily disconnecting the PA15 and then install and test the SAT receiver to make sure everything works; then, reinstall the PA15 connections to the harness and SAT and run through the setup again: the PA15 uses XM ch1 as ‘the home’ base for setting up the ithing and AUX channels.
