04 G35 Radio - No sound

Hi guys,

I have a 04 g35 sedan, my radio has a problem, this sound goes on and off. From what I read its something in the radio unit itself not 100% sure though. Everything works, CD, Display, Steering controls.

Some people are charging around 200$ to repair this (you send them the radio and they send it back) but since the car is 11 years old I would avoid putting that money into the car.

If anyone has a fix I would really appreciate.

Two threads to read.

The easiest fix is if it's the ribbon cable:
https://g35driver.com/forums/audio-v...g-channel.html

If it's not that, it's probably the $200-ish fix done by repair shops - overheated resistors:

Like the Dr. said, it's best to use this as an excuse to upgrade to aftermarket and avoid this problem completely, but if you're trying to hold out, try the two fixes above.

I haven't ever heard of the internal amp on the non-bose units going out. The bose amp has been known to go out, but that problem wouldn't be fixed by sending the radio in as you said you were considering doing in the first post.

Hey guys,

I am having the same issue with my stock bose system( I have a 04 coupe), sound goes off, then comes back on, speakers pop a lot, sound will be only on one side of the car, or very muted. Happens with both the radio and CD changer. A few people have told me its the amp, another said its the head unit….any input would be appreciated!! I need my sound back!! Thanks guys!

did you ever fix this issue? I am starting to have this issue also..

the radio/cd/ipod will "work," but no sound will come out.. and then boom a POP in the speaker and everything works as normal.. scares the crap out of me everytime.

You know I never ended up fixing it, mainly because someone hit me and my car was totaled I know it's a common issue though, I had an 04 coupe, and most people told me it was the head unit...sorry I couldn't be more help, hopefully you'll have better luck fixing it than me, it's annoying not having a radio with sound lol
