A Bluetooth Kit w/Trunk Install?

Hi

I have been searching around, and can not find an answer. The reason I am trying to look for a unit that I could plug into the trunk is because it looks like a huge to-do to get into the back of the radio and I want a simple and easy install. Bluetooth makes the most sense as you could plug it into the back and forget about it.

I am fully aware of the USA SPEC PA15-INFI that will plug into the SAT Harness in the trunk, but upon my research you cannot add bluetooth to this unit unfortunately. I have had USA SPEC units in the past, and have been very happy with them.

My goal is to have streaming audio from either my iphone 5S and/or bluetooth equipped ipod.

Thank you in advance, and if there is no such unit available I will go ahead with the USA SPEC PA15-INFI

Only bluetooth one I've seen that works well is the grom, which plugs in the back. You could re-wire the unit and connect to the wires to the harness in the trunk, but if you've definitely go the harness in the trunk, you're probably an 05+, so getting to the back of the headunit really isn't as bad as you think.

Thanks for your response. I did reach out to Grom as I had one in the past. They advised trunk installation is just not possible.

I did read on another post of yours that the trunk wiring is merely an extension cable from the back of the radio. Is this true on an 04 coupe?

I am glad to try it out, but would I need to do anything extra to get it wired up?

Sorry for the delay,

It's an extension of what's on the back of the radio, but the harness is different, so you can't just plug in. You'd have to get a harness that would connect to the satellite adapter at the back of the trunk, and rearrange the wires to meet up with the right wires on the GROM unit.

With an '04 coupe, you might not even have the satellite adapter harness to try and connect to.

Thank you again for your assistance. I went for the PA15-infi like an idiot without checking the rear for a harness. It is still being shipped, so I will have a look tonight. I really hope that I have the harness!

All I know is that I have a SAT button, but if I press it i see "NO SAT"

Well, 04 has a chance of having the harness. Check the trunk.

I will this evening, as we had snow last night.

Just to confirm, it would be on the left side after popping out the clips? Or do I need to remove the spare tire cover as well?

To get bluetooth streaming with my USA Spec module, I used a Griffin BlueTrip module plugged into the AUX port of the USA Spec.

The AUX and Ipod wires are ran into my armrest, and I used the 12V port to in there to plug in the Griffin module. The Griffin can also be used for BT hands free talking, but since my car has BT I had to disable phone audio in my smartphone settings. If you want BT hands free calling, you could probably plug this into the ash tray port so the built in mic can pick up your voice.

The price on Amazon seems to have doubled: http://amzn.com/B004KPLS7K maybe there's a better version out now?

I did not think of that!! Good idea!!

I will look into that! I have seen other "bluetooth to aux" cables for less on Amazon so it might be worth the effort in order skip the process of snaking the wires to the armrest.
