I don't think the dealership would attempt to disassemble the radio to get it out, rather just charge you for a re-manufactured radio and the labor to install it, so $600-$800.

If either them or another shop did attempt it to just get the CDs out, you're looking at about 2 hours of standard shop labor rates, so... $100-200, with no guarantees the CD changer would work afterwards.

Went back to the guy today and he tried installing the ROEM-NIS2 and he said the volume only goes between 0-10 and at 10, it is maxed and really loud.

With the Metra 7551, the max volume I could do is 20 before it becomes distorted, and it wouldn't even be that loud either at 20.

My alpine double din (INE-920HD) has a volume **** that can go up to 35!

Does this make any sense as all?!

I mean I don't know your installer but those claims seem... Crazy.

I Have a double din Alpine as well that goes up to 35. Are you getting the same base you had with the bose stock system?

No I'm not. I honestly think the audio shop messed up on the wiring or something.

I was messing with the sound settings and when I put the balance to the left, I only hear sound from the right and vice versa. I assume it is wired backwards but something is not right

Gah, when you take it to a shop its hit or miss for audio. My Honda Accord has alternator whine with the left front tweeter no matter what. I know it was an install mistake, and I don't even bother taking it in anymore (disconnected).

I stand by my previous assessment.

For reference, there's individual gains for all four channels, so if volume is too high, you turn them down. Another tip - the factory bose stereo has pretty low voltage outputs, so you start with the gains all the way down and slowly increase.

You put a small screwdriver in those four holes and turn them to adjust the levels.

That's what I thought. I work at Best Buy so I'm going to deal with them from now on. I've wasted too much with the other shop to come up with poor results.

Because they had trouble with the ROEM-NIS2, they installed a JL Audio XD-CLRAIC2-SW Standard Clear Audio IC to Speaker Wire Adapter .. whatever the hell that is and the volume even sounds lower now.

I have to use the compress media feature on my double din alpine and the volume only goes up to 20 out of 35 and it's not even that loud.

Did they add that to the ROEM-NIS2, or replace it?

JL Audio XD-CLRAIC2-SW Standard Clear Audio IC to Speaker Wire Adapter is just a really fancy name for an RCA cable cut in half:

He took out the ROEM-NIS2 and replaced it because "the max volume goes up to 10 out of 35" ...

I don't think they adjusted the sound for each speaker? The RCA sucks.

I'm going to have Best Buy redo the rewiring. Only con is I'll lose the bypass as its against their policy.

All I simply want is the same sound as I did with my stock head unit. The Bose speakers got the job done with me. I don't want to go the aftermarket stereo route unless I have to.

I do get good discounts on speakers and labor though through Best Buy (Warehouse pricing)

There are good and bad installers at best buy just like independent shops, hopefully you have better luck than the last guy you took it to.
