powered sub review?

I was wondering if anyone had experience with powered subwoofer (amp and sub in one unit). I'm looking for a way to preserve as much of the trunk space as I can considering how little of it we have. My other car had a system that would wake up the neighbor hood ( until a few scumbags with a brick decided tey wanted it more then i did and robbed me) and I think I'm over that. my concern is that a 270 watt powered sub might not be enough to match the interior where I have alpine type s all around and a kicker 300 watt 4 channel. Any advice is appreciated!

Yeah, advertising to the neighborhood what's in your car is a great way to make it disappear.

Anyway, as for the sub problem, if you really want to maximize trunk space and get the most out of your watts, reinforce the rear deck (heavily!) and run an infinite baffle setup from there, or do it behind the rear seat -

If you can get your hands on a 4080 box, you can keep a good amount of space as well, but you'll need more than 270 watts with a sealed box if you want to keep up with 300 watts of components. 500 can definitely do it. JL does make a stealthbox for the coupe, but that might be taking away more trunk space than you want.

I wasn't in my neighborhood I was parked on the street in NYC and my backseat didn't always latch and fell down without me noticing, exposing the amplifier to anyone walking by. I'm not stupid enough to do that in certain neighborhoods. As for that box I don't want anything crazy I just want to compliment my components.

For a simple compliment, you may consider just adding some dedicated 6x9 woofers, like these: http://www.woofersetc.com/p-10394-cl...ubwoofers.aspx

They don't go anywhere near as low as a 12 sub - only going down to 30hz vs. 20hz for a good 12" sub - but if you reinforce the rear deck some to keep it from rattling, you'll at least round out the frequency range fairly well.

I just moved an Infinity Basslink from my old Accord into my G sedan over the weekend. In the Accord it did its job keeping up with 2x 6.5 and 2x 6x9 getting 75WRMS. It's not going to rattle your bones, but it does its job filling in the bottom 30-60hz octave. In my G, I kept the stock non-Bose HU and just upgraded the speakers and deadened the doors. The Basslink is a nice compliment, but again it's not going to rattle anything loose. Its claim to fame is bang for buck, and keeping a small profile. For my needs its perfect.
