thoughts on bluetooth mic relocation ideas

So after a bit of searching on the older threads it looks like the main problem with the factory bluetooth mic is the crappy location. I was thinking about extending the mic wires into the homelink rear view mirror and either mounting it on the underside or directly in front. Do you guys think either of these locations would be a good idea to improve the sound quality?

I have a Parrot bluetooth mic installed above the mirror close to the headliner. Works great.

It might help, but I'd spend the extra $9 and pick up the parrot external mic which has worked well for myself and others in the near-stock location.

When I did road tests with mine that was bad... Buzzzzzzx that thing vibrates all the time (rear view mirror). Go off something more static.

ohh... hmm good point didnt think about that, just liked that the mic was directly infront of the speaker vs being overhead

didnt want to start a new thread. so quick question. can i cut the rca ends off and splice them into the bluetooth mic wires? the mic only has one black and one red wire and people have just cut and spliced in new mics to the wires. im looking to use this cable so I can test out different mics. would this wire be appropriate to splice into the existing wires?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/12ft-3-5mm-1...item54028ec80c

reference of how the factory bluetooth mic is wired and how people have spliced

It is a bad location because of the road noise, but I think there is a thread on this ill see later.

Yeah, but you might as well just get some of these and just solder wire to it, and have 9 more to spare for other projects:

The two side pins are extra ground pins so you can secure the plug to a PC board if that's where you're installing them.

so what do you guys think about mounting the mic here. i am putting two 2.75 full range speakers where the sunglass holder is for the front mic handing the navigation voice and bluetooth speaker (have a ms-8 so music is all faded to rear on headunit and front stage has separate speaker). do you think putting the mic this close to the speakers will be influenced by the magnets or anything?

going to cover the entire holder in speaker mesh so dont worry about the sh!tty dremelling lol

The magnets won't interfere, but feedback could be a real issue with that proximity.
