I need help!
Those people who have a amp for their low's on their head unit:
- How did you get your amp to hook up to your head unit?
- Does your low amp ever just cut out?

My system sounds nice (when the bass is hitting). Somtimes the subs just stop working.. and when i take a look at them, there is power reaching the amp, but the system isnt bumping... im not sure why, thats why im asking for help. i suspect the converter from the head unit to the alplifier to be having problems.. any ideas?

I just got the entire system replaced. Took out the Bose amp and put in two amps, one for highs and one for lows with a crossover in between. Is your amp for the lows turning off and getting really hot or is it on but not driving the speakers? Keep in mind though that you are still using the bose amp in your case and maybe the custom curve they have built in is messing things up. Or your amp maybe messed up. I just had to replace my old Punch amp coz it was cutting off every now and then. But it was getting really hot and shutting off coz of that. I think it must've gotten damaged while in storage. No fuse on that amp!! $400 amp with no fuse! You might just have to adjust the gain settings on the hi/low convertor you got. What kind did you get? I have one in my system too and your best bet is to get the best one coz while the sound will never be as good as with RCAs, at least the best one will get you closer. I have an Inside Edge one (by Rockford). Lemme know if this helps or you need more info.

 

pestilence if this is an aftermarket amp and sub, check your ground.

sometimes a bad ground will make an amp's protection circuit activate.

Hey Guys, thanks for the pointers.. I will take a look.. at the ground and check out what kind of rca adaptor i have..

its really annoying having it cut out .. the amp dosent seem to get hot tho..

Thanks for all of your informatoin guys. I checked all the wiring out and its all okay. The problem is with the amplifier. Its a competition amplifier and after a while the ***** get old and cuase the amplifier to not function correctly. i have contacted the manufacturer MMATS and am going ot send it in for RMA.
