delete factory nav?

hi all! new guy here and I would like to replace the factory stereo as it works intermittently. when it does come on the volume stays at the same level. my car has the factory nav unit but i will not need it as a replacment unit wil have carplay so i can use the maps on my iphone. will there be any issue disconnecting and removing the factory nav unit?

No issues. You can remove the screen and replace it with the cubby from a non-nav car, or leave it there.

I know this is old, but maybe this will help someone else who also wants to do this: I decided to design a leather organizer to fit in the nav void when I took mine out. So far its cheaper than the factory cubbies Ive seen and hopefully give it a more lush appearance, with more functionality. I have a local leather guy working on it. If it looks good, Ill post the results here (if its not too much of a burden, having to deal with aftermarket photo uploaders).
Maybe g35 owners will want them and buy them and somehow I can get paid for my design, and I can retire?😁😁😁😎. Wishful thinking out loud, not sorry. Notice how this plan requires technology to cooperate? there's a lesson there y'all (not meant for evil purposes, u lil devils).
