Replacing Bad OEM Radio with another OEM Radio

I know this is going to sound strange but I have to ask because I cant figure this out and Im new to these cars.

When I bought my 05 the radio would power on but no sound and then all of a sudden it would make a loud spark like sound and it would work until u turn the car off and the nothing again. Well since then I have purchased 2 OEM radios, (1 from a Supplier and another from a guy that said he just pulled his out) So after taking everything apart and installing the new radio (All 5 wires connected and Antenna plugged in) I turn the Ignition on and I have no power to the radio or any of the AC Components. This has been the case with both radios, I take the original one and put it back in and it powers up fine but ofcourse no sound and the AC controls start working again.

Am I doing something wrong here, Is there something that needs to be done to get a factory radio to work when its replaced with another factory radio. Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Robert

Are you swapping for the same kind of radio, i.e. Bose for Bose or Non-Bose for non-Bose?
Check the ribbon connecting the AC controls to the radio, if it is damaged or the plug its going into is damaged that will cause issues with the radio not powering properly (happened to me).

I will check that in the morning, I am swapping Bose for Bose. The one that I got both came out of 04 Models with Cassette Player and 6 disc CD Changer.

Your original problem sounds like it's the Bose amp in the trunk, a well known issue around here.

there is an amp in the trunk, If its bad can I just replace it with a Different amp or does it have to be a specific type. I really got to do better reading on these cars.

I believe you would have to replace it with the same amp or else you would have to find an aftermarket amp putting out 2 ohms and run all new wiring and install an aftermarket head unit.

If it is the amp at least that component is pretty cheap, I think I paid $50 for mine on eBay a year ago and there were a LOT of them for sale.
