I am in the market for a radar detection system with laser "jammers" and was wondering which option is better. If I go with the Escort SR7 with shifters I get a nice system with a clean installation that detects radar from the front(only) as well as laser detection front and rear.

The other choice would be to go with the Escort 8500 X50 with the Escort ZR3 laser shifting system, that offers virtually the same features as well as rear radar detection?

Any thoughts you may have will be appreciated.

 

I have the 8500 with the ZR3 Shifter and love it. It feels like winning on a machine at the casino when the screens scrolls "shifting". Beats have a blue and red light in your rearview. Only experience otherwise is the V1. I wish they were both intergrated with teh shifter giving me the best of everything but that never seems to happen. I enjoy the clean install on the 8500 as i can hide everything but the radar, only wishing the radar had a mounting system which was more stable.

 

i have the 8500 with the zr3 shifter, really nice, love it. I also got the 350Z radar detector mount for it which works perfect for G's also since we have the same rearview mirrors. totally reccomend it.

Whats the 350Z mount? Pics? Haven't seen it yet but im hoping its a more solid mount that the one the radar comes with.

 

There's a guy over on the my350z.com forums who sells a radar mount for $20. I think his name is Mike Peronek if I remember right. It's a piece of black nylon plastic that clamps around your mirror. I'd give you a link but their forums are down right now. The workmanship on the piece is good and the price is right. It holds the radar right beneath the mirror which is supposed to be the best place for it. It can work with a Passport 8500 or a V1. There is a similar mount being sold here: http://www.countryjoycrafts.com/Conn...arDetector.htm but for twice the price and with a Z logo on it.

One piece of advice.. both of these mounts use the stock bracket with the suction cups removed. But this bracket is a little too thin/flexible so the radar bounces around some. I replaced mine with a thicker 90 degree L bracket from the hardware store and it is really solid now.

 

I was wondering where you mounted the 2 front laser diffusers?

 

Hi Boys! Thanks for posting my mount link! We have the mount without the z on it for other cars. Its totally black. Ours is not plastic. Yes it is more expensive but its realllllllly nice...... My DH who races DSR's makes them so he is really good.........I say unbiasedly. LOL
I have the escort with the z shifter and my dh has the valentine-1. My lasar diffussers are under the front grill on the front of the car and on the license plate on the back of the car. Ya'll have a nice day.
