Stock Crossover in non-Bose?
Stock Crossover in non-Bose?
I have a 2003 JDM v35 Skyline Coupe and was hoping the similarities between the V35 and G35 would be enough to get some advice. I have the non bose setup, in which i just recently replaced the headunit and front components. My components came with a crossover, but I've been initially using the stock wiring from to hook them up. I've been noticing some bass distortion from the tweeters (ie distortion happening on bass beats) which prompted me to actually unplug them until i could install the real crossovers to prevent damage to the tweeter.
The problem being that I'm not sure where i should be hooking up this crossover, because i can't find the point at which the stock wiring splits at the stock crossover/highpass filter. I think i've read that on the premium bose system this happens at the amp in the trunk? The only thing in my trunk is the nav system, and to confirm that i unplugged the harness and the fronts still played. I was hoping to avoid having to rerun my own wiring and just use the stock, but does anyone know where i should be looking?
Any advice would be appreciated.

I don't know for sure, but I know that most stock systems incorporate a capacitor of some type right at the speaker as a high pass x-over. If you have your old tweeters take a look at them. If you see a small capacitor on them then the signal they are receiving is full range. Which means you can just attach the aftermarket x-over right at the door. Hope that helps.
