HVAC not working after radio upgrade

Hey guys,

I'm sure the answer to this is out there somewhere, but I've been googling it for a couple hours now with no clear answer, so... Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction here...

I had an 04 G35 6MT sedan, and upgraded the stock radio to a Sony MEX-XB100BT, and ran an iPad via USB on top of it using Pandora (or whatever), and used the climate controls from a Scosche kit.

Somebody smashed it up a year ago, and I just replaced it with an 06.

I installed the exact same setup in the 06, but for some reason the HVAC is completely unresponsive, and stuck on Auto at 81º.

I know the stock one won't work, because it has to run through the radio (for some unbelievable reason...), but I know the 03-04.5 models were the same way, and the Scosche climate control setup worked just fine. Somehow now it's not functional...

Do you guys have any tips? Is there some quick bit of soldering I can do or something, or am I totally boned here?

Thanks in advance.

Radio in place of gpv

How is everyone doing.? I got a question, has anyone ever tried to put a touch screen radio in the place of the old outdated GPS scren, the one one that pops up out the dash on a 2005 model. I thought it would be a good idea to try it. Only ask because of the price of the installation kit.

I thought the Scoshe unit was NOT compatible with the newer stuff? My '06 had to use either the Metra or the JDM DD. If you are trying to use the '06 AC amp in the '04 that's probably the issue.

I’m using the Scosche HVAC assembly I had from my 04 setup, and it has not worked. It didn’t even cross my mind that there would be a difference, considering their similarity.

I believe I have a Metra kit for an ‘04 laying around somewhere, are you saying that should work on the ‘06? Or does Metra sell a kit specific for the ’05-‘06 models?

Any idea what changed between years and if there’s a way to make my Scosche work?

If not, it sounds like you’re saying if I plug in a JDM HVAC module I should be in business, right?

Thanks for the info thus far man.

Honestly I'd hit up @Wrathernaut he's far more knowledgeable about those components than I am and I don't want to steer you in the wrong direction.
