Sudden radio death

Sudden radio death
Driving home the other night, the radio just went dead.
Lately, I've noticed that the radio lights have been flickering here and there, but nothing significant. The a/c and all the other jazz is fine, but out of nowhere the radio just died.
I fiddled with it for a bit, got up to the next stop light and cycled the car off/on and then it came back to life. I immediately popped out my 6 cd's, as a precautionary measure.
Just wondering if anyone has come across something like this or what it might be. Last time I took it in for an oil change the mechanic initially stated that either the battery was weak/not holding a charge, or that the alternator wasn't doing the job. I guess I looked surprised or something, because the technician then totally recanted and said not to worry about it and it probably wasn't anything.
Things that make you go hmmmm.
Anybody? Any help is appreciated.

PS - It's an '06 sedan, the premium Bose system, no navi.
