G35 to G37 head unit upgrade?

Hey guys I’m new to the forums, if I ask arrogant questions please forgive me 😅.

I have a 08 G35xS with nav, boss audio and backup camera, owned the car for about a year and a half and absolutely love it! I was researching into possibly changing out the older head unit to a g37 unit with better res and graphical UI. Too my luck I wasn’t able to find too much.

The reason I’m interested in doing this is because my buddy has a 07 sedan with exact same options as mine that he bought off a nice old lady that had the g37 unit installed and I figured I’d give it a shot with a donor head unit I pulled from a parts yard for a 2010 g37🤷🏽‍♂️

I knew they were wired differently so ended up blowing a fuse and gave up lol, so I guess what I’m trying to ask is if there’s a way to do this upgrade or is it too complicated?

I apologize for the rambling😂

Just buy an aftermarket HU, far too much work involved in trying to make a G37 unit fit and work.

It can be done.

In your case, only two 2010+ NAV parts are required for the conversion (since you already have Nav):
(1) Touch Screen Display (2) NAV Unit / Radio Receiver

PARTS FOR THE CONVERSION

(1) Touch Screen Display
From a 2010-2015 G37, Q40, Q60, EX35, EX37, or QX50 with Nav.
Part No: 28091-1BY3A, 28091-1BY3B, 28091-1BY1E, 28091-1BY1F, or 28091-1BY3C.

(2) NAV Unit / Radio Receiver
From a 2010-2015 G37, Q40, or Q60 with Nav.
Part No: 25915-1JA0B, 25915-1JA1E, 25915-1JA2B, 25915-3LZ1A, or 25915-3LZ1C
(Note – these nav units don't natively support RCA inputs; USB input only).

---------------- END OF PARTS LIST ----------------

With the correct parts all you need is to either purchase a Harness Adapter Kit such as: https://www.ebay.com/itm/333958203751
Or Get a Factory Harness From a 2010-15 NAV Vehicle, and then pin-out, cut, & splice the connectors to your existing harness, using the FSM wiring diagrams as a reference.

And that's all there is to it. Everything can then be installed like it came from the factory. Get the parts you need, adapt the wiring and away you go! Updated Nav, Bluetooth, Display, etc.

Hope that helps.
