Nicely done, looks very clean
Do you actually use that storage thing though? I found it particulary useless

You have some "interesting" taste in music

thanks for all the comments guys. As for procedure, its more or less a straight forward install.

Here's what we did.
1. disassemble the entire dash to get the pocket out (thanks a bunch infinity! could it be more difficult? haha).
2. took the front portion of the controller apart
3. cut a hole in the cover that is slightly smaller than the controller.
4. fabricate the side pieces so they sit the controller at the correct angle. We actually had to do that without the car being here since its the owner's only means of transportation.
5. put everything together (side pieces, controller, pocket cover) and fiberglassed everything together. After that we used filler to create the smoothness.
6. off to the paint guys..you'll have to ask them how they mixed the color and all that. I think they did a great job matching the paint to the original.
7. put everything back together. that was a pain in the butt times 10.

dwoloz: yes the owner actually uses it alot. He sticks everything from wallets to cell phones to change in that area.

csukoh78: anything is possible. Are you interested in having us do something with your ipod?

gizsf: you can call me with whatever fabrication questions. Ill try and answer it to the best of my ability.

Wow that is amazing! I have been wanting to put an mp3 deck in my car for some time now. But a new deck + double-din is well over budget. I was starting to look at an ipod + aux input, but that just not as good as this setup.

Though I am not sure if I would mount it in the exact same way... can you post more pics? esp showing more of the whole dash and maybe a side view?

you think it's possbile to mount it below the radio, like where the astray is?
or maybe inside the lid of the cubby hole...?

I used to have install work done at Motor Music in Concord. Are both the shops owned by the same person? If so, the owner's really nice guy. I've bought thousands of dollars worth of ECLIPSE products there in the past. He did give me pretty nice discounts on the stuff though...

Anyways, i'm going off topic here. NICE WORK!!!! I'm trying to learn how to fiberglass, etc. myself currently. That looks like a fun project to try in the future, but I have the navi so i guess i cant...

QBall, what exactly did you need done? We've had guys from southern california ship us the parts and we've done the fabrication and shipped it back.
