Buzzzzz....Dead tweeter or dead crossover?
I have a problem in my '05 coupe with bose. The passenger side tweeter makes a buzzing noise sometimes and I've been trying to figure out exactly what's causing it so I can try to reproduce it when I go to the dealer next week. I think I nailed it.
I found that if I adjust the bass output of the system I can make it buzz more or buzz less. The higher I make the bass, the more it buzzes, lowering the bass to 0 or -1, -2, etc...and the buzzing decreases or goes away altogether. The buzzing is worse on songs with heavy use of bass, and for those, I have to push it down to -3 or -4 to stop the buzzing.
I'm wondering if this means the tweeter's crossover is dead and the buzz sound is simply the tweeter trying to produce a low sound, which it isn't made to do...or if the sound is simply b/c the tweeter is 'blown'...or perhaps the signal coming from the amp is being messed up when the bass is increased?
Any ideas from you audio gurus?
