DigitalWheelz Screen Housing Revision 2
I finished up all changes to the DigitalWheelz screen housing for a new revision. This version will still initially be only for 03/04, but it eventually be adapted for 05 use.
The new revision has been completely redone and all parts have had some change to them. This version will require no cutting whatsover to install and should address all the installation problems with the first version as well as be easier to install. The biggest improvement is the new custom frame that won't cover up any of the screen and exactly matches it's dimensions. The front will be brushed aluminum and the rest will just be the natural aluminum and the whole thing will be anodized clear to give it a protective finish. It will be based on a 7" xenarc, although, the frame will have a similar appearance to this: http://www.xenarc.com/product/800yv.html, but will be entirely aluminum with no plastic backing and have no buttons.
I have attached a 3D rendering of what the new frame will look like. It will come fully assembled with a screen and ready to install in the G35.
The bad news is my costs for the new machined parts have basically quadrupled, mostly from the custom cut frame and the new longer ribbon cable I have to have specially manufactured. This means the price of the new screen housing will be going up by $100. It will be around $500 for the completly assembeld 700v (video only) model and $700 for the 700tsv (VGA + TouchScreen).
Let me know if you are interesed in the screen at this price with either a definite yes or a probably. If there is enough interest, I will place the order for everything needed this week and the completed housing will go on sale 6-8 weeks after that. If not, there will be no more housings, version 1.0 or otherwise. I don't need deposits or anything like that, but I would appreciate honest answers as everything needed for the production run is gonna cost me close to the price of a new KIA.

Thank you God??? I mean Damn you God. Why did you have to change things up?? I'm curious on how this looks now. Would it be possible to change up the old frame I have easily and put on this new one?

The major goal of the new frame is that it will be very easy to assemble, so if you do already have a housing, you will be able to upgrade it yourself and it will work with the rest of the old housing. I do plan on getting a few extra cut for just this purpose, but the cost for just the aluminum frame and the extra long ribbon cable it needs will probably be around $125 - $150.
Assuming assembly turns out to be as simple as I expect, I will sell a completely unassembled version WITHOUT screen for $275. Unassembled with screen, will probably be offered at $25 less then the assembled versions. Aside from putting the screen and a few screws in place, assembling will require lengthening the IR cable. You will also be on your own with the xenarc warranty if you do the assembly yourself. I will cover all completely assembled screens for 18 months.
I don't know what it will really look like myself until its cut.
UbiquityV, the carputer software, is definitly still coming. It will probably be released in time with the new screen housing.
