How long does it take to switch mp3 cds?

Eay ladies and gents...my question is for the 05'ers and their mp3 cd changers. How long does it take for the Bose to start playing an mp3 cd after you switch to that cd? For me it takes a good minute. I'm thinking it's because of the inferior generic cd brand that I'm using. Thanks in advance for the replies and non-replies.

A while, thats why I hate it when I accidentally change Folders instead of seeking the next track.

I really didn't notice it taking too long. Not a minute for sure between folders. I only have one mp3 CD in there right now along with normal CD's in the others so I can't say anything about mp3 CD to mp3 CD.

I have multiple mp3 cd's in my bose and it takes about 10 seconds to switch cd's and play a song. Far less between folders on the same cd.

I believe it is the lower quality cd's out there. I use TDK cd-r discs and Ritek/Ridata cd-r and dvd-r discs. If you want a cheap but quality disc, go with the Ritek or Ridata's. You can find them at newegg.com or supermediastore.com . Check which one has the best price at the time. I have had zero problems with newegg and their prices/shipping/return policy is fantastic.

Hope that helps.

Exactly.

I also use the TDK (both CD and DVD media) and have no problems or excessive delay. I usually get mine on sale at BestBuy.

11 seconds between mp3 discs before play starts. The MP3 capability is good but I can't remember 60 albums worth of folders and disc locations, especially if i swap stuff out every couple days (which i do because i listen to 2 hrs of music a day) so im going the ipod route to make it easier to find what i want right away.

I suggest a Playlist folder...but you've probably got a lot of stuff

I did that for awhile but with the iTrip and where I live...the sound quality is terrible.

By the way what brand cd's did you use to get that 11 sec play/switch for your mp3's.

People should post their cd brands and times...then we could make it a sticky

just whatever i had, probably a mix of brands. each have about 7-10 folders, and I have a TON of stuff so playlists are out like you thought.

What do you guys mean when you say make a playlist? How do you do it? Does the Bose radio utilize it better? I basically segregate mp3's by genre (Jazz, R&B, Classic, etc..) it helps but it still takes a while when sifting through 50 Jazz songs, etc...

Thanks.

Oh, and Newegg does rule. There are a million Microsofties next door that use them too. I buy PC components there all the time.

well...basically use a cd-rw and dump all your favorite-most listened too Jazz, R&B, Classics into one folder (memorize that folder number)...then whaaa la...you've got your favorites all in one folder which eliminates the sifting.

The cd-rw format makes it easy to update that playlist folder. And just add this playlist folder to the one mp3 cd that you most play.

Bad side is you miss out on working out your thumbs and whatever extremity you use to sift.

i only have mp3 cd's in my stereo and i did notice that it takes a bit of time when loading between cd's. not a minute, but like 10-20 seconds. however, what bothers me is that when it is between files/songs, you can't change the volume.
