Hi imRACERX,

I've heard good things about www.knukonceptz.com for wiring.

Hope this helps,
Thomas

JL Audio makes a 2gauge install kit, includes the distribution block and fuse holder for the battery connection. However like mentioned above I'd look into Knukonceptz, look for the 0/1gauge cabling thats the same thickness as the 4gauge (just wider)- I believe its Kompressed Cable. I only mention this because running 0/1 will keep you from having to run new power cable in the future just incase you decide to add additional amps.

Hope this helps

Guess I should have asked this 1st, will you be running the HiFonics in a 1 ohm load ?
If you are then ignore the JL amp install kit, you'll be pulling more current....

Assuming you are running the HiFonics @ 1 ohm you definitely need to run a 0/1g (main power feed) from the battery to the trunk, mount the distribution block [ (1) 0/1g input from batt into (2) 4g output to amps ] in close proximity to your amps so you can feed them with 4g power cable. The Brutus accepts a maximum of 4g so your power and ground will be 4g.

im confused, the Brutus accepts a 4 gauge max and i need the 1 gauge for it if im running it at 1 ohm? im actually running the amp at 2 ohms and getting 1000W to push my puch in series because i cant get them down to 1 ohm because the are dual voice coil and each are 4ohm. anyway how do i feed the amp a 1 or 2 gauge wire if it only accepts a 4gauge wire max? also the quote: mount the distribution block [ (1) 0/1g input from batt into (2) 4g output to amps ] in close proximity to your amps so you can feed them with 4g power cabledoestm make sense to me. can you reword it in simpler terms? i just dont know what you mean. Again im looking to hook up the Brutus at 2 ohms and the Alpine (which is the same as yours) please reply and let me know which kit i should buy. thanks again for your help on this. This is what this forum is all about. How did people survive before the web? RX

imRacerX:

Q. "anyway how do i feed the amp a 1 or 2 gauge wire if it only accepts a 4gauge wire max?"

A. A single 2awg cable would run from the battery to the trunk area as close to your (2) amplifiers as possible. The 2awg cable must now terminate into a distribution block (http://www.jlaudio.com/ECS/pdb.html#) because you want to "distribute" the power. At this point you want to run (2) 4 awg cables from the distribution output to the 4 awg inputs on your amplifiers.

Here is a quote from an AMP installation manual which should say pretty much what I said above :

"If you are installing the "AMP NAME" with other amplifiers and wish to use a single main power wire, use 2 AWG or 1/0 AWG main power wire
(depending on the overall current demands of all the amplifiers in the system). This 2 AWG or 1/0 AWG power wire should terminate into a
distribution block mounted as close to the amplifiers as possible and should connect to the "AMP NAME" with 8 - 4 AWGpower wire. Please note that smaller AWG numbers mean bigger wire and vice-versa (1/0 AWG is biggest, 2 AWG is smaller, then 4 AWG, then 8 AWG, etc.)."

Q. "please reply and let me know which kit i should buy"

A. Since it appears that you wont be exceeding 1400rms total for both amps, the JL XA-PCS2-2 is the perfect amp kit for your installation, PM me and I'll tell you where you to get it for the best price - I just ordered mine the other day for my 3 JL amps.

Hope this helped....

hey thanks and PM sent.
also
1.when hooking up my digital capacitor, i connect it between the battery and the distribution block right?
2. Does the distribution block come with the amp kit you speak about?
3. does the distribution block supply the fuses or are the fuse holders separate?
4. does the kit come with both the 2 gauge battery cable and then enough 4 gauge cable for the 2 amps?
5. Thanks again! RX

hey again, i found this kit that supplies an 1/0 gauge but it says its for one amp install.
1. what do you think about it
2. will i just need a distribution block that fits a 1/0 gauge and that kit will be fine?

i assume get the bigger gauge at a cheaper price and just add a block to it. because that jl audio kit seems a bit expensive. any check it out here on ebay.

Replied to your PM...

1.when hooking up my digital capacitor, i connect it between the battery and the distribution block right?
A. Yes, closest to the Amplifiers

2. Does the distribution block come with the amp kit you speak about?
A. Yes

3. does the distribution block supply the fuses or are the fuse holders separate?
A. Good question, I have two answers to this question.

The Hifonics has built in fuse capability (maxi fuse 60 & 60) so you won't need a "fused" distribution block. A fused distribution block is used either as added protection to your amps or is required if your amps do not have built-in fuses (built-in meaning an external area on the amp to insert fuses if blown).

You ALWAYS install a fuse block (not to be confused with a distribution or fused distribution block) no more than 18 inches from the battery, the amp kit I recommended provides this fuse block as well as a 200amp ANL fuse.

4. does the kit come with both the 2 gauge battery cable and then enough 4 gauge cable for the 2 amps?
A. Yes

5. Thanks again! RX
A. Your welcome

I just bought this one. I think it pretty much has it all! I think he is selling one more in his other auctions.
