Re: Installed DVD player for NAVI
The size of the pocket is very small and non standard. There are only 4.25" available for the screen height.
I have been looking for a while but it is very hard to find a screen that will fit. I also looked at frame less screens (with separate controllers and inverters) and found one that will do the job. Now the problem is the frame

Check out www.avelectronic.com
I have asked the guy, and most of his NAV Conversion is a plug & play solution, however, he said his NAV Conversion for the G35 right now requires only cutting one wire...
I am still trying to get him to come up with a plug & play solution which I am sure other owners will be more than willing to do....

Re: Installed DVD player for NAVI
paintballbitch, I have already taken a look at the many different methods of converting the stock navi to have DVD capability, and this seems like it will be the easiest and cheapest way to do it (considering that the gex-p7000 is nearly impossible to find, and only used ones can be found. and im not about to risk buying a used unit).
I am ordering from avelectronic soon and installing the unit on my own. based on the knowledge of the nav system wiring that I have, I believe that we can simply tap into whatever wire avelectronics is mentioning because I cannot imagine any wire that we would have to CUT in order for their system to work. and also, if all we have to do is tap into one wire then it is easy to pull out avelectronics system if we ever need to bring the car in for warranty work on the nav. system or screen...
