I just bought a AVN 5435 and going to have it professionally installed on wednesday my question is I heard you can override the system to play dvd's while driving with this unit I know on the older unit you ground out the parking brake wire is this unit the same way I want to tell the installer incase he doesn't know also is there any other things I need for the installation I bought the pac-swi-x for the steering wheel controls but do I need wiring harness antenna adapter ect ?? any information on the install of this particular model would be great Ill take pics when it's done

 

yes you will need antenna adapter.

i dont think they make a wiring harness so your installer will need to do it him/herself.

ok for the new 5435 even if you ground the parking brake wire, over 20mph it will still turn off the screen during dvd viewing, to bypass this, hook up a switch on your speed sensor wire so that when youre watching dvd's you unswitch it so theres no feed from your speed sensor wire to the head unit, then when you do navi, switch it back on!
as far as i know, this has never been tried yet, but we're sure it will work!!!
