Tape Error???

Tape Error???
I've tried 2 different tape adapters for playing my Ipod one SONY one MAXELL (less quality), both play for awhile then jump to SIDE 2, then spits out the adapter and says Tape Error. Whats going on??? I tried doing a search a didnt find an answer...
