okay, now that we have that cleared up. Is there any other place to get the ac controller? I would like to be able to get this stuff asap. I want to be able to watch movies in the Gizzle.

I called Grubbs this afternoon and talked to Gary, he said that they have ordered the 05's DD kit, and they should arrive by end of next week, but he didnt know the part numbers for them yet, his extension is 4114.

I just got my car back from the shop, and GUESS what? I will not need that DD kit, the system sounded great with stock Bose, the W7 with 500/1 is just perfectly loud enough and JL's stereo speakers are not too bad either.

Still wonders if I still need that bracket or not... ...ohhh, screw it, I just have to learn to live without it.

 

Hey.....I wrote that DIY guide in March of 2004, over a year ago.....yes, I wrote in that write-up that you need the bracket, dash pocket and blank bracket BUT......i was only following preliminary recommendations of my predecessors who did the conversion in their 03's. Back then, we thought there might be a difference in the Infiniti stock and JDM v35 brackets but in actuality, there are no differences.

Since then, we have recommended that you don't need the bracket and can use your stock one. It's just too hard to have the admins over at g-owners.com to edit my DIY guide.

Believe me, you'll end up swapping out your HU when you have start to question your highs and mids. Everyone does.......lol....everyone. Those that keep the stock HU with other aftermarket components are just in temporary denial.

When you talk to Gary next, tell him stop ordering and advertising the bracket. I'm glad that Grubbs is ordering the 05 parts. When Grubbs does have the DD parts, they are cheaper than J's. The key word is WHEN.......

ordered my willow DD and a/c controller from Yoshi at j-garage...so far so good...he said about 2-3 weeks for deliver

Hey, I was a noob asking about the bracket 7 months ago too. It's true, you don't need it.

 

I have an extra bracket for sale exclusively *needed* for DD conversion. I'll let it go for $199 shipped.
