Anyone know the best location to tap into Vacc? (Accessory Voltage)

Just like the subject, whats the best location? I know the cigarrete lighter provides +12V, and GND, but is that third wire behind the cigarette lighter the accessory voltage? If not wheres the best place to find that, and Kia if you read this, send me the cigarrete lighter PDF, thanks aziiiiizzzzzz.

Thanks in advance mi G amigos.

I guess there are 3 wires back there upon further study of the 03-04 service manual section WW-38.

Bundle # 1contains the red/black wires for power and ground. These wires connect to an 11A fuse and slot 7(M4) in fuse box (J/B).

Bundle #2 contains a black wire that connects to M30 and M66.

WTF this means I have no idea....

M30 and M66 seem to be body grounds...

M30 is grounded near ignition , M66 is body ground located below upper glovebox.

M4 I guess is the fuse box.

First...no clue what you just said my friend....well I know you are reffering to specific connectors...but not willing to tear my console up...all I want to do is pop the lower center trim (around the stick shift) and connect i to something in that area...hopefully the cig lighter has this Vacc...I know it def has the +12V and GND....but there is also a third wire there...hmmm maybe Ill have to be an enginerd and bust out my DMM and test it out...oh well. But thanks Doc.

What are you trying to hook up?

It is very easy to grab accessory power undre the drivers side dash. Pop one scew out and the whole lower dash will fall down, then you remove 4 10mm bolts from the metal bracket and the bracket will come out. Then, you can get to the harness that has all the high current ignition wires.

If I was you, I would use the main ignition wires like KPierson stated above. Not sure how many amps you nav/tv tuner is pulling, but you could end up blowing fuses if you tap into some of the smaller guage wires in the console area. below are the wire colors for 03-04, but i'd check 1st since yours is an 05.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Infiniti

2003-2004 Wiring Colors

Start:
White/Red (+)
Ignition switch harness**

Ignition #1:
Black/Red (+)
Ignition switch harness*

Ignition #2:
N/A

Ignition #3:
N/A

Accessory:
White/Black (+)
Ignition switch harness

I hooked my DVD player up to the cigarette lighter and I haven't had any issues with it. But, I never use my lighter. If you add accessories to the wire and then try to use the cigarette lighter there is a chance you will blow the fuse.

I agree...I did the same....tapped it from behind...nice thick wires but turns out the Voltage behind the cig lighter is an accessory voltage, so I jumper my constant hot and Vacc together and tapped them together right there behind the cig lighter. I like it this way, cause my DVD player won't have constant power even when the car is off....not good for the battery if something is drawing current when the car is off no matter how small.

So far I have my DVD player, consumes 10W, and a small FM mod tapped behind the cig lighter...I dont smoke either so its alllll goood.
