Yeah the single din fold out screens look tacky now. They seem out of place, especially in a luxury car...

Anyone install the N2 and have pictures to post?

The pics of the D1 look awesome. I am wondering how the N2 would look.
Thanks!

i have the avn5495 installed in my car right now. i like it okay. this is the third unit i have had in my car since i bought it. the first one i had was a kenwood ddx-7015. the second deck was a panasonic vq9300 in dash dvd i liked that one but didn't like the way the vollume button was and it blocked the a/c controls. so now i just bought the avn5495. i like it. now i can use my a/c with ease. the only thing i dislike is the navigation does not have all locations in the database. and does not have a tv tuner option. no ipod inteface either. but i am going to send my unit back to eclipse for update on database. other than that i like the features of the avn5495.

Looks like 5495 comes with 30GB hard drive, 10GB for Nav and remaining 20 GB for storing music files. Now that can be very handy difference. With 20 GB space need for CD changer will go away. Can N2/D1 do that?

With the D1 and N2 you can get the ipod controller and an ipod, have up to 60 gigs of music, and take it with you when you leave the car

Yup.. You can always do that.. good point. But that adds cost to the overall solution. If one can get 20GB of space to store music files with the HU, isn't that a big difference?

Definitely. The 5495 is also more convenient since you can jump in the car and not have to hook up an ipod when you want all your music with you. Also, you'd have to use some storage space to hold the ipod that you'd have free with the 5495. It would be pretty cool to just jump in and have all or your music right there. Overall though it is probably more expensive to be able to do that. A D1 is about 1200 while a 5495 is about 2200. You'd still be ahead with the 100 dollar ipod connector and the price of an ipod. Pros and cons to each I guess.

I believe the AVN5495's hard drive is only used to rip audio CDs. I dont think it can store mp3 files.

I haven't bought or burned an audio CD in over 3 years.

Of all the things to be proud of. WAV files sound better.

So the best way to go if your looking for a sub and amp combo with the deck would be the AVN, because the D1 has lower pre-amp outputs, or would it not matter that much?

The AVN sounds better on its preamp ops than the D1.

The D1 has a more adjustable sub output level. If your sub amp has its own ****, I'd use it with the D1 (actually, I like those either way).
