Portable car navigation systems: Magellan or Garmin?

I have been wanting to buy a portable gps navigation system and have a roadtrip coming up so now would be a good time. I've read reviews on amazon.com for both the Magellan RoadMate 700 and the Garmin StreetPilot 2620 but I still can't decide which to get. I'd like to know if any of you have tried out one of these navi systems and how they've worked for you. Function is my number one priority, since I'm buying this only for giving me correct directions. Please also suggest other brands/models you may have in mind but please stick to portables only since none of my 3 cars have navi. Thanks!

i have garmin 2610 and love it. touchscreen and remote. software leaves nothing to be desired. the only part is finding a good place to mount it. i'm using a slip-less pad it came with and stuck it in the left corner above the steering wheel column.

Try the Garmin 330, pure touch screen and easy to read interface.
