Using the Blose HU as the source. Got 3 amps JL 500/1: 350/4: 350/2. Got the /4 bi amped to the front speakers(mb Quarts), the /2 to the rear(mb Quarts) and the 500 to the 2 10" W6 subs. not using the LOC nor the blose amp. Going straight from the hu via rca(cut and soldered) to the amps. i've had this installed over a year already and sounded good (till recent)!!! here's the issue. when i play CDs i get what i'm calling distortion out of the left side speakers front and rear. the right side sounds good. But when i play the radio all sounds ok.. i'm thinking that there maybe something wrong with the Hu's cd output! don't know not sure what do you guys think????
Either that or ground noise in the wiring. There is a reason why they make LOC the way they do. First part is the wiring quality, and grounding factor throws noise out into ground as opposed out to your speakers. If it sounds like a bad FM distortion, you have a grounding problem that just arose. Don't solder and make your own wiring when it comes to audio, cause frankly it will sound like SHlT. You also want to make sure that there is enough wiring clamped (contacting) in the screws on the amps, meaning you have enough wire fibers touching the amp AT each terminal. And always use shielded wiring/cable and tie the sheild down with any ground.
If it was a grounding issue it would sound "distorted"(almost sounds like the speakers are blown) all the time with cd and am/fm reception. not the case, only sound like crap on the left channel when a cd is playing.
i agree - if it's only with CDs then you've eliminated everything (including ground loops) except for that circuitry dealing with CD audio. You can reverse your RCA's going into the AMP and I'm sure you'll find the problem on the right side then. Your CD audio left output is not doing what it's supposed to. Start from the that signal and work your way back to your amp.
