Factory Stereo Question

is the actual head unit attached to the entire dash plate that runs from beneath the unit to just above and includes the vents? Or are they two separate pieces?

I assuming the HU you mean the CD changes? The face plate is one peice you have AC and radio controll botton on them and and connected via cable to the change behide it...
