OEM Sat Antenna on Back Deck vs. Terk

I had the Terk Micro on my back deck but reception was a little too poor for my taste. The signal would drop out under trees and was lost when my vehicle was in some positions.

I decided to try changing out to the OEM Sat Antenna and putting that on the back deck. What a difference! Drop outs were cut by about 70%. Great increase in reception. Places that I always use to loose the signal at the same location heading to work are now fine. As far as looks go, since it is still on the back deck, the size difference between the two is negligible.

Anyone that has the same problem with the Terk on the back deck might want to try the OEM before you go back to an exterior antenna.

The micro is more reliant on having metal under it for its reception. The oem also uses the metal, but its bigger so its not as reliant. If you want even better reception mount a metal plate under the oem antenna on the back deck.

The OEM is mounted to the roof only with adhesive. But, very sticky adhesive. It is not easy to get off. I had my Infiniti dealer remove it rather than taking a chance and damaging the paint myself.

The believe factory installed 05 antenna is bolted down. I tried to remove it and thought I saw a hole underneath.

I ended up using this antenna with my Pioneer XM tuner.

Did your dealer remove one of these?

Yep. That is the OEM that my dealer removed. Only put on with adhesive. I would still not do it myself.
