TV Tuners & reception quality

I have a kenwood ddx7015 and was thinking about getting a TV tuner for it (specifically the KTC-V500N, which is designed for this head unit) My question is that those of you who have a tv tuner, what is your reception quality like? I haven't looked into them much in the past few years. I know in the past the quality was sub par, but was wondering if there has been any improvments. In other words, is it worth it?

I had the Kenwood TV tuner in my old car and the reception depends on a few things. When I has going to school in California the reception sucked because of all the valleys, hill, etc...

In Texas with nothing but flat land, reception is actually pretty good when the vehicle is stopped. On the freeway it gets a bit of static.....
