VSS wire in '05 coupe???

Surely somebody knows the answer to this. I have searched and read numerous posts, but there seems to be no resolution. I don't know why they would have changed it, but there is no white wire w/ a green stripe (that's what is described as being the VSS in -04 models) going into the back of my nav for the '05. Mine is still apart waiting to see if anyone can answer this anytime soon.

Anybody know the VSS wire going into the nav for '05s?

Thanks,
Matt

Yeah there is, its in a wire harness on the back of the stereo, not the nav.

Green wire with white stripe?

I see it in the 04 schematics for the audio as stated, but I dont see it on the 05 schematics...the 04 explicitly says speed signal...hmm maybe a diff color?

But, why would it go to the stereo only and not the nav since the stereo doesn't care about the speed, but the nav needs to know if you are moving or not so that it can change what options you are fed. Seems like there still must be a wire that goes to the nav as well in order for the nav brain to process this.

blackonblack: I presume when you hooked up your avic, you found the VSS back there behind the stereo as well.

I'm sure there has to be another vss wire going to nav since it needs a speed pulse to function properly.

I was actually wondering the same thing, why is there a vss wire going to the stereo?

Since this is usually the hardest wire to find, I was so happy to get it on the first try, that quickly forgot about why it was even there.....

According to the 2005 Infiniti Service Manual,

Section AV page 62:
Vehicle Speed Signal (2-pulse) is terminal 28, wire (W/G) on NAVI harness. (for Navigation speed detection)

Section AV page 19
Vehicle Speed Signal (2-pulse) is terminal 18, wire (W/G) on AV harness (for Speed Sensitive Volume System)

Hope this helps....PM me and I can send you AV section from Service Manual

There are 2 speed sensor wires b/c

1. one goes to Nav computer
2. one goes to radio for speed sensing volume control. (SSV)

If you are looking for it, it is the WHITE wire with GREEN stripe going to the 10x2 harness at the bottom of the stereo. The wire is on the top right corner of the harness.

What do you have to do to this wire?

Yep, after docron helped me out, I found it. I don't know if it was my lighting or what, but the wire looked like it was white w/ a black stripe. It's on the grey harness (in the pic below, it's the second wire over next to the red one):

pic here:

https://g35driver.com/forums/attachm...chmentid=16493

and, BTW, the same mod works for 05 as well as the previous years. Mine works just fine now.

Lethal: cut the wire and splice in a switch (most people use the trunk valet switch) to turn the VSS signal to the nav on and off. That way, when you're moving and your passenger ( ) wants to enter a new address, you just reach in the glove box, flip the switch and hte nav thinks you're not moving any more so you can enter one. once you're done, flip it back and you're good to go. plenty of info on the board has already been posted about it if you need more.

ok, there were 6 people who responded to this thread......

let's all remember that the VSS wire is:

ON THE GREY HARNESS, WHITE WIRE WITH GREEN STRIPE NEXT TO RED WITH BLUE STRIPE.

so if someone else asks in the future, it will be easy to reference to and remember.

*admins might want to add this to the FAQ/DIY section of this forums...
