JL Subs

I am taking my car to the shop today to get my system installed. I can either go with 2 JL audio 10 inch W7 subs or 1 12 inch W7 JL audio sub. Please let me know what you think would make more sense. I have been told that 2 12inch W7s would be excessive and basically impractical, that is why I have already disregarded that option. Looking forward to hearing your opinions.

Thanks

2 10w7s would look nice, but is there going to be enough room to have a box with enough air space? Given the size of the trunk of the G, I'd probably do just one 12w7. Plus 1 12w7 would be cheaper and provide all of the base you could ever want.

How about 1 10w7. Is this for competition? 1 10w7 will be more than enough in a G. Just a thought. Plus it might leave you with 1 square foot of trunk space. lol

Depends on what you are trying to achieve.

W7's are very loud i would think one 10 would be fine, unless you want big bass or show. just my thought

Have done many W7 install in my previous career and I can say that a single 10W7 is more than enough bass for most people. If you're planning on building a SQ system, I would do just one. I've done two 12W7s in a 2gen Supra in sealed enclosures and that was just ridiculous. You couldn't sit in the car for too long. Like some have said it all depends on what you want to achieve.

personally i went for thw 12W7 wit a 1000/1 in my 2004 coupe and its great but i think one 10 is enough because i feel that my 12W7 is just too much for my car and i basically dont have a trunk either

ONE is all you need, might it be 10 or 12, I went to three shops around here who carries JL audio, all of them suggest use single 10W7 would be more than enough, one shop went as far as "refues" put 12 in the G out right , you know something is up when they dont want your money!

Unless you want comp, one with a lot of power should be plenty.

hah!

I laugh at all of you! Define enough :-D

I ran a MTX 9500 12 and I want to fit it into my G but Im afraid I'll have to make a false floor and pull out my spare :-/ Anyone here put a 12W7 or 9500 12 in their coupe? :-)

and just for reference, one 9500 12" beats out many other sets of 2 12's and 2 10's (actually done in competition in my old volvo). I would expect just the same kind of performance from one 12W7. Supersubs are off the chain!

One 12 will work beautifully

Good luck with your decision!

Adrian
